This was after a sensitisation meeting that took place Thursday March 9,2023 in Mongo village for the rehabilitation of the Rural Earth road from Mudeka to Mongo by Tiko Council through the international Labour Organization (I L O) and the international organisation for Migration (I O M).
During the exchange that brought together representative from the farmers,Sand Exploiters,Health, Education,Buyam Sellam,Internally Displaced persons, Transporters, Fishermen and Periwinkles expoilters,the consultant of the international Labour Organization and international organisation for Migration,Mr Kouete Vincent told the participants that this project is not only for the rehabilitation of the 7.5 Km of the Mudeka – Mongo road but they will also look into the needs of the population of this area.
He went further that the project that has as three objectives that is; impact of the road, identify other needs of the population aside of the road and interest of stakeholders already in the project workforce,will run for two years whereby the project will create employment to the community.
It should be noted that those for the labour base approach will be trained in building and public works whereby at the end they will received certificates.
The fourth Deputy Mayor of Tiko Council, Waindim Rudolf on his part called on the population to collaborate with the council so that the project should be realised by actively participating in the activities that will go a long way to employ some of the youths from the Mongo Area.
The Communal Development officer for Tiko council, HRH mbollo Ndedi Yves who hails from the Mongo Area called on his people to receive this project jealously as it will go a long way to ease the movement of goods and persons from this area to different towns which for the past has been a nightmare especially with the increased in transport fare in the mongo Area due to the state of the Road.Chief mbollo emphasize that a management committee will be created to maintain the road as they have been doing for the past years.
The Mongo Area to note has a population of over 12000 inhabitants who are mostly farmers, Sand expoilters, fishermen and Periwinkles expoilters.
The rehabilitation of the Mudeka to Mongo stretch of road by Tiko Council through the international Labour Organization and international organisation for Migration,is within the framework of the Humanitarian Development peace Nexus project for supporting crisis affected communities with inclusive infrastructure Rehabilitation in the North West and South West Regions of the Cameroon.
