Tiko Council takes Decentralization to the grass roots

The gateway city of Tiko, as part of a pre -requisite for the Budget Orientation Debate,Tiko Council of recent has been visiting the various zones to get the problems of it’s Citizens.

Dubbed Citizen participation, the exercise that was launched at the Tiko market last July 28,2023 has so far visited Zone Ten made up of Long street and Holforth Five Quarters, and Ombe native Communities.

At Zone Ten which is one of the biggest zone in Tiko municipality, the fourth Deputy Mayor of Tiko Council, Waindim Rudolf accompanied by the head of local solutions Mr Sone Julius and Mr Fombon Patrick listened to the worries of the people and in return Mayor Waindim Rudolf told them that the creation of Zones is by another way given powers to the community (Decentralization).Mayor Waindim also explained to the population what the council has been doing and that with this exercise the council will later seat and come out with good projects that will suits the various communities.

The chairman of Zone Ten, Mr Kamgang Giresse in the presence of his people outlined some difficulties they faced such as poor drainage system in most parts of their roads, the culvert infront of Sabibi primary school now a dead trap to road users, absence of a foot bridge linking Quarter Five and the need for a bridge linking Quarter 4 to Quarter 3, amongst others.

The TIKO Council team it should be noted will visit all the 17 Zones that make up the municipality.
